This course will teach you how to address water distribution modelling in a comprehensive and holistic way. It will enable you to consolidate and continue developing your modelling skills up to the level where you can apply your knowledge across a variety of water distribution projects. The course will provide you with the possibility of enrolling in more advanced MIKE URBAN+ training courses.

Are you prepared to allocate time for twelve self-paced modules and two online one-to-one meetings (approximately thirteen hours)?

If yes, you can benefit from this online learning course. Upon completion, you will be able to apply the features of MIKE URBAN+ that are essential to set up water distribution models, run simulations and review results.

Course details

This is a self-paced course. You will learn online, through video lectures, demonstration videos and quizzes, hands-on exercises and reading materials. Additionally, you get two one-to-one online meetings with your own DHI urban tutor. In this way, your learning process and objectives are optimised.

Approximately 60 minutes (one hour) work per module is expected to get the maximum out of the course in addition to two 30-minute one-to-one online tutor meetings.

You are expected to complete your course and online meetings within 30 days of receiving receipt of your free, Internet license.

Importing data from EPANET into a new project

Module 3: Network import

Module 4: Network editing
Adding pipes, pumps and valves to the model

Module 5: Demand distribution
Distributing demands and developing node consumptions

Module 6: Demand allocation
Working with water metered consumptions, demand allocation and geocoding

Module 7: Hydraulic simulations
Setting-up and running hydraulic simulations, viewing results and reporting, time series and map views

Module 8: Fire flow modelling
Basics of fire flow modelling, residual pressure and available flow

Module 9: Pipe criticality analysis
Analysing critical pipes within the network

Module 10: Water age analysis
Understanding water age modelling

Module 11: Source tracing analysis
Source trace analysis and travel times

Petr Ingeduld is a senior project manager and hydraulic engineer with over 20 years professional experience.

Throughout his career, Petr has focused on development and application of hydraulic models to support water supply and distribution; he has managed projects in many countries around the world and provided technical direction and troubleshooting on modelling efforts. He has published over 100 research/professional papers.

Petr is an authorised DHI trainer.

You will have your own personal tutor on this course for two online sessions, each of thirty minutes.
