Our Services

Near real time flood extent

Assess the amount of flooding in near real time by triggering satellites to map flooded areas. A flood hazard map can be acquired a few hours after flooding has occurred and delivered in less than 24-48 hours globally (different solutions apply)

Historical flood hazards

Prevent or limit floods from happening again by mapping historical flood hazards to understand the risks and take mitigating actions based on time series of satellite imagery

Depth of flooded areas

Using high-quality Digital Terrain Models suitable for assessing flood depth coupled with enhancement of Digital Elevation Models through advanced image analysis (feature extraction)

Damage assessment

Assess the amount of damage by acquiring satellite images after the flooding in very high resolution (1m)

Satellites can map the extent and location of flooded areas

Over 50,000 people were evacuated from their homes after water from a breached dam flooded communities in central Myanmar on the 29th of August 2018.

Several deaths were confirmed in relation to the flooding and it was estimated that at least 12,000 households were affected by the breach, not to mention the many hectares of farmland that were turned into muddy fields.

The region is known to be prone to flooding when heavy monsoon rain every year causes thousands of people to be displaced.

With satellite imagery it is possible to map the extent of a flooded area and assess the damage, getting a full overview of where aid is needed the most.

FAQ

Can I get the same information for my area?

Yes, satellites and our services are global!

How often can I get these type of maps?

Potentially daily (and in some cases a few times per day), but this depends on the overpass schedule of the different satellites.

Can I get information about historical floods?

Yes, but this depends on the availability of archived imagery.

What costs are associated?

Contact us for a quote.

How quickly after the flooding can I get the information?

The raw satellite image is typically available within hours after the image acquisition. The time needed for analysis and production of maps, can vary from a few hours to days depending on the area size.

How to get started?

Simply let us know in advance where and when you expect a flooding to occur, then we can initiate a tasking of new satellite images of the needed area/time.
